A lightweight, non-flammable film for home audiences. Cinelux is made from cellophane-derived ozaphane, the same material used for 16 mm Ozaphan films. Cinelux prints were unperforated. The film was pulled down by a beater mechanism. Ozaphane was too fragile for use in the camera, so Cinelux films were printed from conventional perforated negatives. Frame alignment was managed optically using a photocell to detect the opaque images of the negative perforations.
