Introduced by B. W. Killburn in 1882. In the 1890s manufacturers started mounting photographs on cards with a pronounced inward curvature, on the theory that this enhanced the 3D effect. At the time this view was sold, Keystone was the largest stereoview manufacturer in the world.

Exotic locales and people were one of the primary subjects for stereoviews. The Keystone Company focused on the home and education markets, but risque or semi-nude pictures of "native" women appeared occasionally.
