Uses a single magnetic head to read both stereo tracks. The coils are positioned one above the other. In-line machines replaced staggered machines in the late 1950s. Once they became common, the "in-line" term was dropped. This reel has "For stacked or in-line head" at the bottom of the label (in extremely small type).
