Precision recorder used by many law enforcement and spy agencies for clandestine recording. It was also of high enough quality to use to record audio for motion pictures; it was small enough to hide on an actor during filming.

The original prototype, known as the Série Noir, was ordered by President Kennedy for use by the Secret Service. Nagra made it a commercial product in the early 1970s.
