Back lighting this translucent view reveals a night scene with a train and a crowded platform. The effect is created by layering a translucent sheet of tissue paper behind the photograph. The hidden elements are painted on the tissue layer. Bright lights could be added by cutting out openings in the tissue paper. Tissue views were ideally viewed in a Brewster-style stereoscope that allowed the viewer to flip between front and back lighting.
